Super-resolution imaging with photoswitchable fluorescent constructs

Florencia Gillanders

Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry

Fluorescent diheteroarylethene probes have been covalently modified to fulfil the requirements for super-resolution cellular fluorescence microscopy - solubility in aqueous solutions and conjugatable to proteins. Furthermore, rationally designed molecular constructs have been synthesized to be implemented in the programable array microscope, theoretically leading to substantial enhancements in resolution in the 3 rd dimension. Imaging with these probes will explore an uncharted area in super-resolution microscopy.
