Parahydrogen discrimination as a tool in the design of hyperbranched polymers with applications as contrast agents
Ignacio Prina
Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz
The goal of this project is to contribute to the designing of hyperbranched polymers which, after subjected to hyperpolarization using parahydrogen induced polarization (PHIP), could be applied as contrast agent in Nuclear Magnetic Resonant Imaging. A problem that arises is that, even though the hiperpolarization occurs, the observation of the PHIP signal in the macromolecules is frequently difficult or neglected because of partial signal cancellation. The main contribution of this project will be the application, modification, and adaption of dedicated NMR pulse sequences, specifically designed to access to a clean high resolution PHIP signal.
