Self-Assembly of Specific Ligands on Pd N Nanoparticles for Heterogeneous Catalysis
Nicolás Arisnabarreta
University of California, Los Angeles
We will explore the direct synthesis and microscopic characterization of Pd nanoparticles (NPs) stabilized with different type of molecules. These Pd nanoparticles will be used to enhance (catalyze) certain industry-relevant reactions such us oxidation reactions. The efficiency of the enhancement will be quantified by calculating the TON coefficient (Turn Over Number). Moreover, an analysis of the TON coefficient as a function of the stabilizing molecules used as well as of the NPs size will be performed. By this analysis we will know wich stabilizing molecule will be the best to act as the NPs protector as well as reaction catalyst.
