Catalytic, radical, stereoselective synthesis of small cycles

Three- and four-membered carbocycles are very important scaffolds in the field of organic chemistry. Their ring strain affords very interesting chemical properties as well as biological activities. To obtain these interesting compounds in a stereoselective way, we propose a radical Cu(I)- catalyzed cyclopropanation with a chiral auxiliary and a [2+2] radical photocycloaddition employing acetophenones as starting materials.
