Lipidomic and proteomic study of Climatic Droplet Keratopathy corneas

CDK constitutes an important public health problem in impoverished region of Argentina where patients do not have the option of corneal transplantation. The general objective of this project is to systematically study CDK samples using MS in order to expand our knowledge of CDK genesis. I do have two specific aims: 1) to investigate lipid compositions of affected / normal regions of patients corneas subjected to manual scraping using the methodology described by Dr. Bhattacharya group (IOVS 2012; 53:7122-30); 2) to further identify glycoproteins by means of MS techniques in purified droplets dissected from CDK biopsies using laser capture micro-dissection (LCMD).The study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Catholic University of Cordoba and will be conducted in accordance with the tenets of the Declaration of Helsinki.
