The schools were selected during the second competition for the Alfredo Hirsch Project for Farming and Animal Husbandry Education to take part in training sessions on international standards certification ISO 9001:2008 during 2010.
In the steps of the success of the first round of the Alfredo Hirsch Project for Farming and Animal Husbandry Education in which six agro-technical colleges were certified for educational quality to international standards, a new competition was launched with the sponsorship of Claudia Caraballo de Quentin and Octavio Caraballo, the grandchildren of Don Alfredo Hirsch.
Twenty-four state and private schools took part in the competition from all over the country. The Jury, including Dr. Juan José Llach, Professor. Alfredo van Gelderen and the agricultural engineer Fernando Vilella, thus set an order of merit according to the files presented by each institution and selected the following as winners:
- Escuela Agrotécnica “Los Sarmiento”, Los Sarmiento, Tucumán.
- Escuela Agropecuaria N° 1 “Manuel Belgrano”, 30 de Agosto, Buenos Aires
- IPEM 293 “Agr. Orestes Chiesa Molinari”, Bell Ville, Córdoba.
- Escuela de Agricultura y Ganadería “Adolfo J. Zabala”, Universidad Nacional del Sur, Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires.
- Instituto Técnico Agrario Industrial, Montebuey, Córdoba.
- Centro Agrotécnico Regional, Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe.
The teachers from these schools will take part during 2010 in training meetings on Educational Quality Management to draw up their procedures manuals, later to be approved as part of an audit carried out by the certification entity Det Norske Veritas.
As in the earlier edition, once the certification phase has been passed, there are a further three years in which the Bunge y Born Foundation supports the upkeep of the standards for each participating school. |
