THE WINNERS OF THE COMPETITION “MY SCHOOL NEWSPAPER” HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED

They are the pupils at the rural schools No. 522 “Profesor Manuel Bermúdez” in San Vicente, province of Misiones and No. 20 “Hilario Ascasubi” in Casbas, province of Buenos Aires. The pupils will receive an educational trip to Buenos Aires and a year’s subscription to the magazine interCole each as their prize.

The “My school newspaper” competition was carried out in the framework of the 2008 campaign for the Rural School Support Program. 162 rural primary schools took part from all over the country with much enthusiasm, sending in to the Bunge y Born Foundation school newspapers and magazines which the pupils made under the supervision of their teachers.

All the entries received were of an extremely high standard and reflected the hard work of the pupils in the creativity of their content, the illustrations, joke sections and advertisements. Each publication also contained a great deal of school and local content which revealed a major level of input from the whole community involved.

The Jury took its decision based on these motives and finally, after the challenging job of selecting the winners, chose the following publications and schools.

“La voz de mi escuela” (My school’s voice), by the pupils at school No. 522 “Profesor Manuel Bermúdez” in San Vicente, province of Misiones.

“El Ruralito” (The Little Rural One), by the pupils at school No. 20 “Hilario Ascasubi” in Casbas, province of Buenos Aires.

The prize is an educational trip to Buenos Aires for a total of 30 pupils accompanied by two teachers to be undertaken in February or March 2009 according to their school calendar so that neither the children nor their teachers miss school.

There were also special mentions for 11 school publications which will receive a free subscription to the interCole magazine for the whole of 2009. These were :
