The Bunge y Born Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to “promote scientific investigation by means of awards, scholarships and grants, and enable many kinds of activities aimed at benefiting health, education and culture in the community at large.”
The Foundation was created on August 1, 1963 on the occasion of Bunge y Born’s 80th anniversary in Argentina.
In the interests of fulfilling its mission, the Bunge y Born Foundation carries out the following activities:
The award of an annual prize for scientific research, which has taken place every year since 1964, as well as several scholarships and grants for researchers;
The donation of school materials to support hundreds of rural primary schools in isolated locations across Argentina. The Foundation organizes and finances training programs for teachers and provides resources to develop other educational activities.

The administration of different funds each with its own specific objectives. The Foundation provides financing for awards to carry out research and studies which are highly relevant for the health field. It makes donations of medical equipment to hospitals and other health institutions, providing funding for the prevention and treatment of disease. In the area of culture, it funds conservation programs in the fields of preserving this country’s historic heritage, monuments and documentation, including the preventative conservation of several collections.
For certain programs, the Foundation works in association with other foundations both in this country and abroad.
It is also a founding member of the Grupo de Fundaciones y Empresas (GDFE) (Group of Foundations and Companies) which promotes and fosters social investment in Argentina. |
