Training and equipment for school vegetable gardens
The initiative is about the upgrade, maintenance and optimization of school vegetable gardens for the benefit of pupils, teachers and the educational community from the schools involved in the Sembrador Project. The task is being carried out with the Huerta Niño Foundation which is managing its development.
The project is aimed at schools that already have a vegetable garden in order to help them strengthen their institutional plans by offering continuity and sustainability to the vegetable garden activity. The plan is to get the pupils to work in the vegetable garden and enjoy the fruits of their labor at school meals. Training sessions are being held at each school with the technical supervision of an expert from ProHuerta. The sessions cover how to improve the quality of the soil, mend fences and drip irrigation, and the program also provides schools with the necessary tools.
